2008 Results
February 2008: United Way’s Women United announced that over $55,000 will be awarded to two organizations to benefit Siouxland youth. The Watchful Eye Foundation’s DeTour and Phoenix programs will receive $39,000 to support and assist at-risk teens involved in gang activity. Girls Inc. has been granted $16,250 to assist in the start up of Allies in Action a new program to help build healthy relationships between girls.

On February 28th, 2007, $40,000 was awarded to “Brain Zone” a project implemented through the Boys Club, Mary Treglia Community House, and Girls Inc. These agencies will collaborate to provide specific skills and activities designed to help in brain development for children. Brain Zone activities have been proven to help improve children’s thought process which in turn improves their ability to succeed in school and in life.
On April 3rd, 2006, $40,000 was awarded to a new program of The Council on Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence (CSADV), called New Beginnings. The program provides non-traditional transitional housing for abused women and their children as they seek a brighter future and gain self-sufficiency.
